Annual Milford Walkathon Benefits Multiple Organizations

walkathonThe first 100 registered walkers in the annual Milford Walkathon will receive a free T-shirt. The event begin at Good Shepherd Church, 321 Fifth Street Milford. Registration will be at 9 a.m. and the walk starts 10 a.m. The event will benefit amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research; Susan G. Komen for the Cure, NEPA Affiliate against breast cancer; and the Milford Musical Legacy, Church of the Good Shepherd Organ Fund. Proceeds from this event will be divided equally among these three causes.


Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a national organization “dedicated to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all and energizing science to find the cures.” The proceeds raised for this organization will go specifically to the NEPA (Northeastern PA) Affiliate.

amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research is one of the world’s leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and the advocacy of sound AIDS-related public policy.

The Milford Musical Legacy is Good Shepherd’s fundraising campaign for its world-class 25-rank Schantz organ, which will enhance Milford as a vibrant center for the arts. Milford is already home to the Black Bear Film Festival, Art after Dark, and the Milford Music Festival, which celebrates the diversity of music and performance. This effort is both an investment in the future of the community and a legacy to future generations of music lovers.
