Omega J8003 Masticating Juicer – The Best Juicer
I have to admit that I was looking at centrifugal juicers first, because of the price difference. I had almost decided on the Breville BJE200XL, but after seeing so many bad reviews that talked about the problem with the screen, difficulty in cleaning, and other problems from users (who had it longer than 1 week before leaving a review) I decided on the Omega J8003. Along with the problems mentioned with the Breville, I also wanted a machine that would juice leafy greens – something centrifugal juicers can’t do or don’t do well, if they claim they can.
After seeing a video review on JuicersJournal.com, where some fat guy is doing a year of juicing to lose weight and get healthy using the Omega 8003 Juicer, it made up my mind.
While the Omega J8003 is twice the cost of the Breville I’m glad I spent the extra bucks for it. I didn’t buy it through eBay, though. It was important to have a new unit with no possibility of buying someone’s problem, or abused unit. I made my purchase of the Omega J8003 on Amazon. I was able to get free shipping and three days after ordering it I had it on my door step. Not only is the Omega 8003 Juicer one of the best made, but it comes with a 15 year warranty (the manual says 10 years, but an insert states 15 years, so I kept the insert).
It comes with 2 cones (1 for juicing + 1 “blank” for creating your own butter from nuts, or using dough for pasta, breadsticks, etc.), 6 adapters for extruding the pasta, noodles, etc., and 1 cleaning brush which resembles a huge toothbrush.
I was juicing within 15 minutes of receiving it. Assembly of attachments is simple and the instruction book will assist anyone who might have a problem. The cord is about 5′ long, so plugging it in and having room to move it isn’t a problem.
Now, I only bought the unit for juicing purposes, so that is what I will review. Personally, I don’t think a machine that is sold as a juicer should be used for extracting pasta, making nut butter, or grinding coffee beens – all of which it says can be done with the machine… I own other machines specifically designed for those tasks.
The auger (the “screw” part that pushes veggies and fruits during the squeeze process) is a smooth hard plastic, similar to PVC, though I don’t know the type of material it is actually made of. It is super hard, heavy, and I haven’t read of one breaking. Don’t see how it could… very solid.
Once assembled and the provided collection bowls are in place (1 for collecting juice + 1 for collecting pulp) under the unit, you simply insert your fruits and veggies into the intake chute. It comes with a plunger stick to push your items to the auger, though only those with exceptionally long fingers would be able to reach the auger through the intake chute, if they were to stick their finger down the chute.
The motor isn’t loud, though you’ll have no doubt it is running. It certainly wouldn’t wake anyone up in an adjoining bedroom, but it is obviously strong. I’ve thrown everything I could at it, including raw carrots, raw butternut squash, beets, and turnips. Nothing has slowed it down and I have yet to jam it, or even use the reverse option available should a jam occur. Since it states it can grind coffee beans I would guess that no vegetable or fruit is going to stop it.
As I said, I’ve thrown everything at it. Leafy veggies, hard veggies, fresh fruit, canned items (in their natural juice) and it seems to get almost all the juice out. The pulp comes out moist, but not wet – as is usually the problem with centrifugal juicers.
Taste? Delicious! I never would have believed that juice from a green pepper mixed with kale, cucumber, and carrot juice could taste so good. Better than any juice on the market, including V8.
Cleanup is, in one word, EASY. Everything rinses off with water with the exception on the screened cone. That I hit with the brush under running water. Takes all of 1 minute to have everything ready to go for the next juicing session.
If you want the best juicer then look into purchasing the Omega 8003. You won’t regret spending the extra money for a quality machine that will last for many years and perform as expected. The Omega 8006 is also available, but is simply the Omega 8003 with a chrome covering (and costs $60 more for the chrome shell). Click here to visit the Omega 8003.
